Practice Nurse

The practice nurse provide on-going care of most long term conditions such as diabetes, asthma, heart disease and raised blood pressure. She also perform a variety of clinical procedures including cervical smears, immunisations, dressing of wounds and advice on contraception. The practice nurse is available Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Melanie manages Burnfield Practice and the staff and ensures that all the management aspects of the practice runs smoothly including staffing, organising of clinics, finance and business development.

Leanne manages the front office and back office staff.  She ensures that surgeries, patient appointments and prescriptions procedures are running efficiently.

Our receptionists, Amy, Jane and Liga are trained to ask specific questions enabling them to deal effectively with your requirements. They will help with any queries or difficulties you have in strict confidence.

Clinical Technicians

Christine and Angela have dual roles, as Clinical Technicians. They have been trained and assessed by the GPs to take blood, blood pressure, test urine, carry out ECGs and other clinical tasks.



Secretaries

Jacqui's, Julie's and Linda's range of duties include dealing with correspondance, administrative and clerical duties for doctors, nurses and practice staff.

Counsellor

Referrals to the counsellor are made by doctors following assessment by the doctors.                     

Counselling takes place at the surgery.  Whenever possible appointments are offered at a time that will suit the person seeking counselling. If a particular time is sought an extra period of waiting may be involved; for instance, appointments later in the day are heavily sought.
